For over three decades, I worked in the heart of America’s public lands. Through my experiences, I discovered that the wisdom found in forests, rivers, and tranquil mountain spaces greatly influenced my approach to leadership development and life. This connection to nature has also inspired my journey into mindfulness.
Jeff Vail’s work is grounded in a simple truth: meaningful change begins when we slow down enough to listen—both to ourselves and to what surrounds us.
For more than 30 years, Jeff served in senior executive and leadership roles within the U.S. Forest Service and federal government, overseeing complex land-use, conservation, energy, and public-lands programs across the country. His career required navigating high-stakes decisions, competing interests, and constant uncertainty—often under public scrutiny and political pressure. Through it all, he became known for steady leadership, deep listening, and an ability to find clarity where none seemed obvious.
Over time, Jeff noticed a pattern—one that extended beyond institutions and into individuals. Whether leading large teams, mentoring emerging leaders, or working through moments of crisis, he saw that the most durable solutions did not come from force or speed, but from presence, reflection, and alignment with values.
This insight led Jeff to formal training as a professional coach and as a certified nature and forest therapy guide. Today, through Prevail LLC, he integrates decades of leadership development experience with mindfulness coaching and nature-based practices to support individuals and organizations navigating transition, complexity, and change.
Jeff’s approach mirrors Prevail’s philosophy:
Whether working one-on-one, walking alongside clients in nature, or advising organizations, Jeff creates space for clarity, confidence, and forward movement—without rushing the process or bypassing what matters most.
Prevail is not about fixing people. It is about helping them reconnect—to purpose, perspective, and the capacity to move forward with intention.
